He is on various national and international committees and Boards. Such as the member-Green Credit Committee, MOEFCCC, GOI; Member-National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), GOI; Central Geological Programming (CGPB) Committee on ‘Geoscience for Sustainable Development; Member- Steering Committee of Global Coalition of Action for Soil Health (CA4SH), Advisory Board of Fruitful India, an Initiative of CGIAR. 

Bharat Kakade is the President & Managing Trustee of an Indian Non-Profit organisation working for sustainable rural livelihood and climate actions for last 58 years with a spread of its operations in 17 Indian states, One Lakh villages covering over 4 million rural poor families. BAIF’s Mission is to create opportunities of gainful self-employment for the rural families, especially disadvantaged sections, ensuring sustainable livelihood, enriched environment, improved quality of life and good human values.

His significant contributions include the innovative, sustainable and scalable rural livelihoods and natural resource management & climate action programmes in different agro-ecological regions of India including Himalayan terrain, arid areas of Western India, Western Ghats, Ravines in Uttar Pradesh and semi-arid areas in Central and Southern India.
